Ttemperature rise, changing precipitation patterns and extreme weather events such as droughts or flooding affect food security everywhere. Agricultural production and food security urgently need to be enhanced and this requires strengthening agricultural systems to be more capable of performing well in the face of adverse events. Under the threat of climate change, innovative solutions are even more urgent.
Youth in agriculture around the world and particularly in Africa should therefore play an important role in designing, co-producing knowledge, providing solutions, and raising awareness for climate action. Therefore, there is a need to better prepare them to harmonize their efforts as they represent the voice of youth and the future leaders of tomorrow that will make the decisions impacting the food security world-over.
Youth in Agriculture for Climate Adaptation Summit 2021 is an international event that aims to enable students and young people to gain insights on climate adaptation and related topics from industry experts, promote youth ideas on adaptive practices in general and specifically for agriculture, discuss youth concerns related to climate adaptation, and bring forward innovative ideas and solutions by youth and communicate these to stakeholders and decision-makerss.
