Geography

Bangladesh is a South Asian country located on the fertile delta formed by the Ganges River, Brahmaputra River, and Meghna River. It shares borders with India and Myanmar, and has a coastline along the Bay of Bengal. The country is mostly flat and low-lying, consisting of vast floodplains, rivers, and wetlands that make the soil very fertile for agriculture. The Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest, lies in the southwest and is home to the Bengal tiger. In the southeast, the Chittagong Hill Tracts feature hilly terrain. Bangladesh has a tropical monsoon climate with heavy rainfall, especially during the monsoon season.

Weather

The weather of Bangladesh is mainly tropical and influenced by the monsoon climate. The country experiences three major seasons: a hot summer, a rainy monsoon, and a mild winter. Summer lasts from March to June, with temperatures often rising above 35°C and occasional thunderstorms called Nor’westers. The monsoon season, from June to October, brings heavy rainfall that supports agriculture but sometimes causes floods. Winter, from November to February, is cool and dry, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C. Humidity is generally high throughout the year. Due to its location near the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh is also vulnerable to tropical cyclones and storms.
